We’re teaming up with Coats of Joy to warm up our community this holiday season!
Come one, Come all! On December 17, Upstairs Circus will be hosting a Project Social at a special price of $38 which includes a marvelous DIY project, 2 drink tickets and truffle popcorn. The only requirement is that you bring a coat. Donations of clean, gently used coats and jackets of all shapes and sizes and for women, men and children will be accepted during this event.
We’ve been hard at work over the past few months creating and perfecting some amazing DIY projects for our store opening, including projects for our first Project Socials: Turkey Day Soiree.
Today’s featured project: Herbs for the Host/ Hostess. A great gift to give to any hardworking Thanksgiving Day host.
We started with plain old mugs and ended with sheer beauty, usefulness and a side of garden fresh scent. Visit us to do the same!
Come join us for our very FIRST Project Socials: Tuesday Nov. 26 and Wednesday Nov. 27 to make this, or one of three other spectacular Turkey Day themed projects! (Click links to buy tickets to the Socials or here to see our calendar)
Taking beautiful pictures of any objects starts with a nicely lit set to take those pictures. This DIY photo tutorial lays out the steps for creating a collapsible (and cheap) photo lightbox so you, too, can start taking beautiful photos.
See the steps below to make one of your own!
We’re thinking of slightly modifying our logo and want your help!

Yep, that’s right. We’re building a circus.
Really, we are opening a Upstairs Circus store front location in LoDo (Lower Downtown), Denver and have been having a lot of fun deciding what this place will look like. It turns out “circus” is a theme you can take in many directions: young and colorful circus, Parisian vintage circus, dark circus, modern circus, Brittney Spears-ish circus…
It’s easy and cheap and makes some wonderful items… it’s T-shirt yarn. Below is a simple tutorial for making your own upcycled T-Shirt yarn.
The supplies needed: scissors and a T-shirt that has no side seams (they are very easy to find in thrift stores… simply head to the Men’s XXL Tee section!).
Good fonts contribute to good design. Since we like to promote good design, we have compiled a list of a few of our favorite FREE fonts, with their corresponding links. See list below!
Three times a year, when making the Upstairs Circus Project Workshop schedule, we are in desperate need of blank calendars; calendars with no preset months and no preset dates. Calendars that contain only grids of empty boxes that we can fill in to meet our needs.
Recently, on a long conference call at the office, I got bit by the creative bug; it started with doodling and started to grow. In a wise move, I decided rather than paint my office in a variety of decorative patterns with whiteout I would make a little sticky note office origami. Kusudama Flower Origami to be exact.
